|Minnetonka Middle School West has been recognized as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School. It is one of 325 schools nationwide and one of just six in Minnesota to earn this prestigious distinction. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.|
|In its 2022 rankings, Niche.com ranked the Minnetonka Schools #1 in the Best School District, Best High School and Best Teachers in Minnesota categories. Rankings are based on dozens of public sources like data from the U.S. Department of Education and reviews and survey responses from students and families.|
Minnetonka students continue to excel in AP courses at Minnetonka High School and through Tonka Online. Minnetonka’s AP exam pass rate (scores of 3 or higher) is 79%. As of August 2020, 671 students in grades 9-12 had earned one of four AP Scholar designations. 84.5% of the Class of 2021 took an AP or IB course during their high school careers.
|U.S. News & World Report ranked Minnetonka High School #10 in Minnesota and #607 nationally. Rankings are based on math and reading tests, graduation rates and the degree to which students are prepared for college-level work. More than 20,000 public high schools were ranked, putting MHS in the top 4% nationally.|
|Minnetonka Public School District was again recognized in 2022 as one of the best in the nation for music education by the NAMM Foundation. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.|
|Minnetonka Theatre's Fall Musical "Chicago" earned 20 Spotlight awards and the spring musical "Mamma Mia!" earned 19 awards. Each received awards for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre, Outstanding Overall Production and Outstanding Overall Performance.|
|In the 2020-21 school year, 28 MHS students were honored with 61 Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mention awards through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program. Emil Liden '21 earned a national Gold Medal and American Visions Medal for his work.|
The following teams qualified for state tournaments in 2021-22: Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming & Diving, Boys Cross Country, Unified Basketball, Girls Hockey, Boys Swimming & Diving, Boys and Girls Alpine Skiing, Girls Cheerleading, Girls Track & Field
